Fantasia 2000
An old favorite brought back, Fantasia 2000, it was Fantasia '99, but they're just a wee bit behind shedule... three clips from the original Fantasia will be used, 'The Dance of Hours', The Nutcrackers Suite' and 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'. Originally, 'A Night on Bald Mountain was to be included, and indeed we saw clips of Bill Tytlas's demon on the tape, but apparently, it has been cut. There will be six new pieces, two of them in 3D computer animation, those two are called Steadfast Tin Soldier, set to Shostakovich's 'Piano Concerto No. 2' and a piece featuring whales set to Respighi's 'The Pines of Rome'. We saw clips from Tin Soldier and the Pines of Rome, my favorite piece was the whales, they are absolutly beautiful. the other segements will be a piece with Donald Duck to the music 'Pomp and Circumstance', Beethoven's 'Fifth Symphony', Stravinsky's 'Firebird Suite' and 'Carnival of Animals' by Camille Saint-Saens.

all musical numbers are to be performed by the Chicago Symphony conduced by James Levine of Metropolitan Opera.

this is a picture from "Clair De Lune," a lost segement from the original Fantasia. first shown again at the World Animation Celebration I'm not sure if it will be included in Fantasia 2000, but there's a very good chance it will.

Fantasia 2000 will premiere at The Millenium Celebration

and here's some more pics from it! click for a larger image

first, from the Pines of Rome, some more pictures of the whales. Arent they beautiful? too bad these pics are such crappy resoloution, they really don't do it justice:

and now, a couple more from Steadfast Tin Soldier:

Tin Soldier and Ballerina Tin Soldiers Ballerina

These image is from the "Firebird Suite" I've heard this referred to as the Mother Nature Sequence as well. This one looks really intriguing as it appears to be done with natural media, like pastels or paint.... or atleast put through some computer process to make it look that way, I'm not sure which. in any case, it should be interesting!

I have no idea what segement this image is from.... I have a feeling that with the trees , it's from the Mother Nature sequence as well, but I'm not sure....
Trees on film....

and now, none other than Donald Duck! following in the footsteps of Mickey, he too, allong with Daisy, will make an appearance in Fantasia 2000. Set to the music of Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance', it will relate the tale of Noah's Ark, where Donald is Noah's assistant loading the animals on the ark, but he can't find Daisy! so frantic search ensues for his beloved duck.
