We watched cartoons. Yep that's right, cartoons.

Karen, Chad and I watching cartoons
Oh ok, there was more to it than that. We went to the Opportunities Expo. There were stands for Warner Brothers, Hanna Barbera, Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks and Pacific Data Images to name a few. There were a couple of schools with good animation programs there, as well. We wandered around the stands with our big bags picking up pamphlets, pins, and Pez dispensers. We talked to all the people, looking at some production art for Anastasia, SHREK! (which has now bitten the dust), and a bunch of other movies. There was a small collection of art for the Disney movies that we saw at the studios. We sat down at Fox's booth for a while and watched the Simpsons. There was this guy from Fox who came up to us while we were sitting there. He said, "hi", we said hi, then he said, "well, I guess I should talk to you guys..." We were all saying things like ok, go ahead, waiting for him to say something, then he just walked off! Strange fellow. It was funny to us; guess you had to be there.

After we were done wandering around, watching cartoons and all that, we went to the Disney stand, where Tenny Chonin greeted us again. An animator, Dominic Carola, took us to another room where he critiqued our portfolios. Disney wasn't officially looking at portfolios that day, so I guess we were special. He gave us some tips on preparing the portfolios, and what types of things to put in there. I'm glad my portfolio consisted almost entirely of figure drawing, because that is what he said we should have in there.
